Agnes S. Hanson

Agnes was admitted to the Riverside Sanatorium before drugs existed to fight the disease. At that time, treatment included bed rest, good nutrition, fresh air, and sunshine.
Her best days were when her husband, Lewis, and her daughter Doris visited.
Roger Huseby

Roger tested positive for tuberculosis at age 18 and left his life behind to begin treatment in the Riverside Sanatorium. After a treatment involving multiple antibiotics, Roger returned home, where he eventually married and had 5 children. He brought great joy to both family and friends. Roger passed away at age 87 from cancer.
Ole Aarseth

Ole came to the United States from Norway, settling in Sioux Agency township. He has the honor of being the last patient discharged from the Sanatorium on June 30, 1963. From there he went to the Granite Falls Manor. Ole was a wonderful woodcarver as well as a photographer, with some of his photographs available on the Minnesota Historical Society Website.
